Hello, I am Rick Scherer, an Advisory Technology Consultant in the VCE Alliances team at EMC Corporation as well as the founder of VMwareTips.com. I am one of many in a great team of Virtualization Experts that support VMware, Cisco, EMC, their partners and their customers in developing and troubleshooting solutions around virtualization and cloud computing.
Before joining EMC in early 2010 I was a Solutions Architect for San Diego Data Processing Corporation, the IT provider for The City of San Diego. Although it seems like Virtualization is in my roots, I have proven to be well versed in many different areas of IT. As a member of the SDDPC’s IT Architecture team I assisted in the design and deployment of many technologies outside of my Virtual Core, including; HPC Environments, UNIX Systems, Windows Systems, LAN/WAN Network design, SAP, Oracle and SQL Server deployments.
Obtaining my first VMware Certified Processional (VCP) Certification in VMware ESX 2 in 2006 I have since designed virtual environments for customers large and small, deploying well over 500 ESX hosts and environments supporting over 5,000 virtual machines. Including environments supporting business critical applications such as SAP, SQL and Exchange. In September of 2009 I was awarded with the VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certification, a feat only shared with a select few around the world.
